Dr. Han is responsible for providing strategic and analytic support to the John Hancock Real Estate Finance Group. With over 16 years of experience analyzing real estate trends and fundamentals, Dr. Han has helped improve strategic thinking and discipline in the real estate investment decision-making process at John Hancock.
Before joining John Hancock in 1996, Dr. Han was vice president of real estate research and strategy at CIGNA where he also served as the chairman of the real estate securitization task force. He has taught real estate economics at MIT and his work has been published in numerous journals. He is the editor-in-chief of CMBS World, an official publication of the Commercial Mortgage Securities Association. He is also a board member of the American Real Estate Society and the Real Estate Research Institute.
Dr. Han, a native of China, received a bachelor of engineering from Tongji University in Shanghai. He earned a Master of City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley, and his Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Real Estate from MIT, Cambridge, MA.
